Fourth (GCX0RF) Adel

This is a local one to me. I'd tried to save all my local ones because I like to keep them for when I feel like a short walk and a cache, almost like my personal stash hehehehe.

This cache is next to a service station which I actually fill up at all the time and the station is meters away from the cache! Anyway, the reason I decided to do this cache was that I had been holding onto the Lucky Black travel bug for 2 weeks and I know you aren't supposed to hold on to them for that long. I wasn't going to get a chance to do some caching for a while so I thought I'd send the bug into the wild.

There was a big swarm of bees around where it looked like the cache was and so I waited for a bout an hour and looked again and found the cache. There is a nice park and playground area and I did take pictures but for some reason they arent on my phone, so next time im there ill get pics and update.

Anyway, left the bug there. This will be my last post for about a week or so. I'm off to Halls Gap for New Years and I hope to report back with all the caching i've done there.

I'm in a knot (GC146XJ) Adel

Another find after the Xmas pub lunch, this one wasn't actually on my list of caches to find for the day. One of the fellow cachers (Team Emeryco) at the lunch asked if I had found "The one in Light Sq" and I had no idea and so they were kind enough to give me the coordinates.

I'd seen this sculpture before and always wanted to take a closer look and now I had the perfect excuse. I didn't have any clues to go with it and so I figured that i'd pretty much have to look everywhere on the little island. I saw all the trees and began to wonder if I should have worn my nice jeans :-p.

Crown & Anchor (GC1DM3Q)

After attending the Xmas lunch event cache, I was excited to find out that just down the road there was a cache! Excitingly I set off after the lunch to go find it. Once again I was found in the position where I had actually walked straight past a cache location on the way to something else!

While this wasn't the most picturesque cache spot in the world, I was in good company and those who knew where the cache was were nice enough to allow me to find it on my own. This was a pretty easy find due to the limited number of hiding spots available at GZ (Which is the term I've learned to mean Ground Zero; there the GPS coordinates bring you).

I was excited however to see that someone had stuck a picture of my childhood hero Commander Keen right near the cache. This made the cache find in my opinion hehehe. But the cache itself is unique in it's own way because it's in such a plain location as opposed to next to a statue or in a nice park.

EVENT: A Xmas Pub Lunch 20 at The Cumbi (GC1JM6P)

This was my first event cache and I was really excited to meet everyone just because I had began to feel like I was the only human alive who did geocaching. I was also excited to learn that this actually counted as finding a cache!

Despite having to wait an ungodly 2 hours for my schnitzel, I had a great time. Everyone who I met was really great and I got some good tips for caching and a couple of hints for a few I was struggling with.

I was surprised how many people there were! When driving into town I was actually concerned I wouldn't be able to find the cachers and may have to ask around. But luckily it was a large and friendly group.

I really hope there are more of these things as I really enjoyed the chance to meet some fellow cachers. I unfortunately didn't get around to meeting everyone who was there and I look forward to getting this chance at the next event.

Today was my graduation and I knew I'd have some time to kill before the ceremony and so after solving the puzzle on this one the night before I figured I'd quickly find it.

The puzzle wasn't too bad for me, especially considering that the degree I was graduating from was Mathematical and Computer Science and just last semester I did a course on Number Theory :-p. My parents thought I was quite odd but once they saw the cache they were surprised that the sport actually existed and that I wasn't just rambling.

I was very excited to find a Travel Bug (Lucky Black) in the cache as this was my first travel bug find. I just HAD to take it. I stupidly didn't bring a pen and so I couldn't write in the log and I didn't even have my calling card on me and so I will most likely visit this one again.

Luckily I had my lighter on my and so I used that for swaps. Didn't know what the policy for swaps with Travel Bugs were but figured id contribute anyway. This put a smile on my face for what was a great day.

The Bridge of Death! (GCQHDQ) Adel

Probably one of the best landscaped areas I've seen while caching and a lame milestone, but my 10th cache find. I'm pretty happy with that considering i've only been doing it two weeks, been doing it on my own and only relying on my crappy phone GPS to get me through.

I've always loved this area and have sat here many times while at uni taking a break. I now have another reason to enjoy it. The foot traffic was more than normal because of graduations but I managed to get the cache and take a few nice snaps. Was the perfect day for this cache.

This one is pretty easy to find, especially if you have the hint. But even without it, there's not really many options for searching hehehehehe. The box is nicely camouflaged and doubt that it would be found by accident. It was however in pretty bad shape and the hinges were broken. But the lid was still very tight and I made sure that it was tight again when I put it back.

I left the wooden clothespeg that you can see in the picture (along with my calling card :p) and took the glow in the dark frog thing you can see in the picture. Cool little cache, nice walk, very relaxing.

Vegetables (GCJGE7) Adel

I knew where this one was from the clue. My GPS was paying up though and the coordinates were not matching for some reason, but I could see from pics of other finds that I definitely was at the right place

I've aways liked this statue so was glad at the potential to find a cache here. Everyone must have been out for Christmas lunch, and considering that it was the last Friday before Christmas, it's probably not too bad of an assumption. It was muggle galore and so I could only "examine the statue" for so long and could only "drop some change" for so long before I had to give up.

As you can see, the peice had a metal log book in the apron and I was tempted to etch my name into that out of principle, but decided against it. I really thought ut would be under one of the crates or something and there isn't really too many clear hiding spots here, so I must have just missed it. Will try again another day.

Gobbledegeek (GC10670) Adel

So I had planned to map out my day's caches strategically so that they were in some sort of order. This one however led me astray and I forgot that it was a puzzle cache! I figured out the puzzle fairly easily because of my IT background and found the real coordinates

When I walked through here the first time, thought it would make a nice spot for a cache which I why I took the picture initially! Little did I know I had pretty much walked straight past it! That picture is pretty much on the coordinates. Had I turned around I would have seen:

Once you have the clue, it says specifically where the cache is. Here is a picture:

I'm surprised that there hasn't been more environmental damage to this cache. If I had a plastic baggy I would have put the notebook in it. Must be a tough container that it's in. Anyway, nice cache, my first puzzle one and I have learned to do the puzzle first!

Sitting Down on the Job (GCGQBJ) Adel

Found this one without needed a GPS. After reading the description, found the statue and quickly found the cache. Didn't understand the clue though.

The cache looks like it could be a syringe, so I got it out with a stick just in case. Good little cache, watch out for muggles though! The car traffic probably isn't such an issue because of where the cache actually is, but watch for foot traffic.

Don't even need to put a spoiler on this one, very easy to find.

LTC:Q6 (GC10C0G) Adel

This one was easy once I got to the right place, but my navigation skills were off today! I went around in the biggest circle, but was worth it for this view I got:

I was literally climbing up some steep slopes, crossing rivers, and coming quite close to some lizards too! I did also potentially trespass on what seemed to be someone's land. Eventually though, I went back to the main path and put my GPS onto guidance mode, which got me to the coordinates quite quickly.

When I was there I found something which I thought was the cache:

I thought this was nifty camo and figured a notebook would fit nicely into the tape hole. I also thought the whole thing may come apart. It didn't though. I was going to do the whole cache in trash out thing, but I left this here because I think it may give good ideas for another cache hide! Also, it's a bit of a distraction from the real cace!

For anyone else planning on finding the cache, this is what I can see from the coordinates:

And here is what the cace looks like (note, I haven't given away completely how to find it, you may need to do a bit of hunting hehehe):

Aussie Aussie Aussie (GCTGB4) Adel

This was a nice easy one, great for my first Adelaide find! This one would be great to get people started on Geocaching because it's fairly obvious once you have reached the coordinates.

I live right near the conservation park and would have walked past these huts about a million times. I never came across the cache though! On seeing the cache, I was surprised that it hadn't been taken or cleared by rangers!

Hopefully the ease of the find means that maybe people come across it by accident and get interested in geocaching. This cache had heaps of cool stuff inside. I took a "Jeans for Genes Day" Badge and left a clothes peg. I was tempted to take the crab in the photo, but decided that it wasn't a fair trade.

Thanks to the Barramundi's for a great cache!

Man of Steel (GCGV4B) Adel

I followed the GPS coordinates and found myself at a spot that I would have passed every day while at uni! This is why I loved caching to begin with, it is like finding a new secret world.

Here is the area around where the coordinates are:

Now, the title is Man of Steel and so that steel box looked like a good candidate and I pretended to drop some coins so I could look under it. I couldn't see anything under there.

I checked around the phone booths (ie, at the top of the booth) but still didn't see anything. I thought that the booths would be a good idea as Superman gets changed in a booth.

I must have looked straight past it because I didn't find the cache. I might go on another day when I have a bit more time. Feel free to post if you know where it is, or email me

About Me

Im 23 year old Software Engineer from Adelaide. I heard about Geocaching from a friend of mine in Melbourne. Together we found a couple of caches and I really got a taste for it. I've always loved the oudoors but have never found the time for orienteering or long bushwalks, let alone camping trips! Caching is great because I can do one or two at a time. It's great fun and i'd recommend it to anyone. It's fun in a new city because you get to learn about the city you are in and it's even more fun in your own city because you will feel like you are in on a secret that nobody else is.
